Leitner Spearheads Ropeway Expansion in Eastern Europe's Winter Sports Destinations
2024-04-03 source ownLeitner is cementing its role as a key player in the advancement of winter sports across Eastern Europe with the announcement of nine new installations across Slovenia, Bosnia, Poland, and Bulgaria. This move is set to significantly enhance transportation quality and bolster tourism growth in the region.
At the Slovenian ski resort Velika Planina, near Ljubljana, a much-anticipated upgrade saw the replacement of an older double-seater with the state-of-the-art CD6 'Šimnovec' 6-seater chairlift. This new ropeway, capable of transporting up to 1,500 passengers per hour over a 1.3-kilometer stretch to the Gradisce mountain's summit slope, introduces 41 six-seater chairs. It effectively acts as a modern access lift to the high plateau, integrating seamlessly with the valley's existing gondola lift, where winter enthusiasts can explore three kilometers of ski slopes, popular cross-country trails, toboggan runs, and hiking paths.
The Krvavec ski resort, Ljubljana's local mountain in Gorenjska, is undergoing significant upgrades with a new 6-seater chairlift from LEITNER, designed to handle up to 2,400 people per hour. With 30 kilometers of slopes and 13 lifts, the newly installed CD6C 'Zvoh' chairlift, featuring Premium Chairs EVO, seat heating, and plush upholstery, replaces an older 2-seater, enhancing transportation efficiency for all skiers.
Kope ski resort in Koroška, an hour from Maribor, is also witnessing significant enhancements with three new LEITNER installations and three freestyle slopes, elevating its status as a prime skiing destination. The completion of two new 4-seater chairlifts, CF4 'Kopnik' and CF4 'Pahernik', along with the SL1 'Velika Kopa' surface lift, adds to the resort's allure, with each chairlift boasting capacities of 2,000 people per hour.
In Mariborsko Pohorje, Slovenia's largest ski venue known for hosting women's World Cup races, a new 4-seater chairlift enhances the resort's extensive 35 kilometers of groomed slopes and 14 lifts. The CF4 "Ruška" chairlift, nearly 1.3 kilometers in length and equipped with 102 chairs, promises up to 2,000 passengers per hour a smooth ride.
The Igrišta - Vlasenice ski resort in Bosnia sees modernization with a new detachable 6-seater chairlift from LEITNER, marking a significant quality improvement with a capacity of 3,000 people per hour as part of its gradual modernization under OC Jahorina since 2021.
Szczyrk, a Polish ski destination, will soon boast a detachable 6-seater 'Doliny III' chairlift from LEITNER, complementing the recently completed SL2 'Jaworzyna' surface lift. This investment adds to the resort's attractions, including a 'summer-winter toboggan run', enhancing the ski experience with a 1,150-meter chairlift capable of transporting 1,800 passengers per hour, slated for completion in 2024.
Bulgaria's Pamporovo ski resort welcomes a new 6-seater chairlift, the CD6 'Malina', replacing an older 3-seater from POMA. Equipped with LEITNER DirectDrive and 104 Premium Chairs EVO, this upgrade ensures up to 3,000 passengers per hour can enjoy the resort's nearly 30 kilometers of slopes with enhanced efficiency and comfort, marking LEITNER's impactful entry into one of Bulgaria's top ski destinations.
